* Not willpower! Environment controlHappy New Year! A great time to set goals and actually meet them. Just go thru this issue and start planning.
* Reduce hunger strategyDo you find yourself scarfing down meals like it’s your last supper before an execution? Then wanting more?
Here’s a neat strategy to allay hunger using herbs. About a half hour before meal, preferably supper, drink a glass of water containing a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of fiber supplement. Mix vigorously and drink down.
Both additives have appetite-suppressing properties and you’ll feel partially full.
* Water keeps you cool & healthyThe European Commission recently observed that bottled water does not prevent dehydration. A silly ruling based on flawed research.
But now the EC asserts that water does keep you cool and healthy.
Essentially it stated that water helps you regulate body temperature and help with bodily and mental functioning.
I think that the reason why water helps keep your mind and body sound is that drinking it helps you avoid dehydration. Dehydration leads to numerous health problems.

water and dehydration *Rosemary herbWe’ve mentioned rosemary on previous pages. Lots of health benefits.
Make a rosemary tea for bloating & gas. Putting dried rosemary on BBQ holds off cancer causing compounds from the process of barbequing.
Also aids mental functions. Use it in a body balm, and as an essential oil in candle for memory and alertness.

herb, rosemary * Healthier ketchupWhy didn’t I think of this. Use tomato paste instead of that sugar filled ketchup. Can add a little salt, stevia for sweetness, and a little vinegar and/or cinnamon.
* Super healthy burgerI’m going to talk about chia seed again. It just never ends with chia.
Adding chia seed to hamburger meat expands the burger by 20% and makes it super healthy.
Just take an ounce of milk or other liquid, add a tablespoon or two of chia seed and let it sit for about 20 minutes. It will become gelatinous. Add to hamburger and you have more hamburger, and much healthier mixture.
Use your discretion for how much meat to use. Don’t use too much chia mixture or burgers will be bland.
* Herbal tea for constipationThis isn’t such a hard one to take. Peppermint tea helps with constipation. Add a little fresh ginger root and raw honey and you’ve really got a delicious nightcap.
* Buying vitamins economicallyBest deal on multivitamins is the large container of multivitamins at the big discount stores. Chances are quality is good, so are prices.
Personally, I buy CVS brand multi-vitamins, 365 in a bottle, normally on 2 for 1 sale. I take one with breakfast, one with dinner. So my purchase is good for a whole year.
* Fat loss supplementChitosan, derived from shellfish, taken before a high fat meal, helps body trap fat.
* Reasons to exerciseIf you need a little more motivation to stick to your exercise program, we have a whole new section up in Healthy Exercise World.
One of my personal favorites is that exercise improves your mood better than most pharmaceutical drugs. For more reasons, visit our section on
reasons to exercise* The most delicious herb for softer skin & hypertensionAdd a little powdered cocoa to skin lotions. Leave on for 15 minutes. Do make sure to wash it off.
Fruits, veggies & exercise to prevent strokesYou heard that consuming fruits and vegetables that are colorful is smart because the color in the produce betrays nutrient rich content. All true. But here’s a twist.
Fruits and vegetables with white flesh are also very healthy. That’s because they contain specific antioxidants that are especially good for warding off strokes.
So go right ahead and dig into that white fleshy cucumber, cauliflower, apple and banana .
Our new pages on stroke and exercise include the relationship between
stroke and exercise and
exercise to prevent stroke * Not willpower! Environment controlIf you are having problems sticking to a better diet or exercising don’t just depend on your will power. If you do, you will fail.
What you need to do is control your environment. What does that mean?
Don’t buy junk foods. Don’t walk into McDonald’s. Control your environment.
Buddy up with an exercise partner. Place your exercise equipment in prominent spots. Control your environment.
In many ways, we are all big kids. Depending on your will power most likely assures failure.
On that note, Happy New Year!
