Your eyesight is probably one of the most valuable possessions that you have. When you consider the quality of life and how it would change if you are blind then you truly begin to understand just how important it is to have good vision. Lots of people, at one point in their life, suffer from some kind of deterioration in eyesight. Commonly, these people will go to see an optician and will probably end up with some kind of lens – whether that be a pair of glasses or contact lenses.

The problem with glasses and contact lenses is that they don't actually attack the root cause of the problem. Instead, they attack the symptom of poor eyesight. In other words they are great for helping you to see clearly that they are not great for improving your natural eyesight. Unfortunately, most people have glasses and contact lenses also have deteriorating eyesight. This is because glasses and contact lenses actually teach your eyes bad habits – they teach your eyes to see incorrectly and over time the muscles in the eyes weaken and the eyesight gets worse.

This is why I advocate natural eye exercises to try and improve your vision before jumping straight into glasses and contact lenses. A recent study shows that the large majority of people with eye problems can actually improve their eyesight naturally – in fact over 65% experienced a significant improvement in less than four weeks. In my mind is worth spending four weeks to find out if you can improve your vision naturally just to stay clear of being dependent on man made lenses.

One of the exercises that you can do if you suffer from weak vision is called palming. This exercise is great for relaxing the eyes and the mind. It sounds very trivial, to relax the eyes and to relax the mind that actually studies show the eyes strain is one of the most common causes of eyesight problems. That's why palming is such a great exercise.

To do palming you'll need to put your elbows on the desk in front of you with your palms facing up to the sky. Then cover your eyes with your palms and making sure that no part of your palms actually touches your eyes. You should then be in a position where you can't see anything and you are perfectly suited to try and relax the muscles in your eyes whilst thinking positively in your mind.

Do this exercise every day for 2 to 3 weeks and you'll experience great results with regards to your vision. This one great technique that I've told you about here was developed initially by a guy called William Bates over seven decades ago. He was the high any effort natural vision improvement and dedicated his life to studying how he can improve eyesight of his patients without using drugs and man-made methods. If you are looking to truly improve your eyesight naturally then I can definitely recommend his publication which is called better eyesight without glasses. All of the modern vision correction programs that are available over the Internet and across the counter are based upon Bates' methods.
