If you think you can successfully lose weight in a healthy manner with diet alone, think again. Exercise is an essential part of a healthy weight loss program. Following are ten effective weight loss exercises that you can easily do at home.

1. Push-ups are still among the best exercises to lose weight because it trains your shoulders, chest, triceps, abdominals and lower back.

2. The second effective weight loss exercise is the classic squat. This leg exercise targets the muscles that burn huge amounts of calories like your hamstrings and quadriceps. And if push-ups are the grand-daddy of pressing exercises, pull-ups are the perfect counterpart for pulling exercises.

This exercise works the biggest muscle group while challenging your strength and building your endurance.

3. The one-leg Romanian dead lift is one exercise that is guaranteed to test your balance, strengthen your hamstrings and help you build flexibility. Stand with your feet a bit more than shoulder-width apart. Extend one foot off the floor behind you, and then slowly lower your torso until it is parallel to the floor. Push back to the starting position and repeat with the other leg.

4. The v-up and roll is performed much like crunches, except that your arms and legs are extended and you reach for your toes as you roll up. This helps reduce the stress on your back.

5. With the T Push-up, you execute a classic push-up, but as you raise yourself you have to lift your right hand and rotate slowly to form a T and then alternate both sides with each push.
