Many of us strive to make our workouts part of our daily lives, but how many of us pause to consider and determine just why we are attempting to build muscle. I believe that in order to get the best results possible, you need to have a clear idea of why you're doing this, and the goals you would like to attain. It's been proven in study after study that people who have clear goals, and write them down, are 90% more likely to achieve them. Writing them down is a kind of accountability, and we feel as if we are more bound to do them.
So why should we be trying to build muscle? Many guys start a weight lifting regimen with a vague idea that it's good for them, and getting bigger and stronger can't hurt, right? So they spend countless hours in the gym attempting to become as big as they can, to build the biggest chest or biceps they can. And given enough time and effort, that's what they are rewarded with. Spend enough time on something, and you'll see results.
But the question is why are you doing this? If the goal is to get big, what will that accomplish for you? Will it help you attract women? Will it help you in your chosen business or career? Will it help you dominate your social circle? Or will it merely endear you to all the other weightlifters in the gym, rob you of most of your time, and do little to further you in any areas of your life that matter!
I have a better way. I believe that the reason we should be building muscle is to achieve the ultimate male form, as defined by the Adonis Index. This is based on the classic “Golden Ratio”, which has been known for centuries to be the formula for creating not only the ideal male physique, but also many great works of architecture and can even be found occurring in nature. This ratio is expressed as 1:1.618 and refers to the ratio of the shoulder measurement to the waist, depending on a person's height. This produces the classic “V” shape, which has been proven to not only drive women wild, but also to promote the idea of social dominance as it relates to friends, acquaintances, and business dealings.
The idea is to get as close to this ratio as possible, through a combination of workouts and diet. This classic form will help you become the top dog, the person who always gets the best looking women, and the best business opportunities. Who wouldn't want to be involved with someone who obviously has all their ducks in a row? Successful people run with successful people.
Give this idea some thought as you come up with your own goals for trying to build muscle. I think you might be surprised when you really examine why you want to do this. Then look into the Adonis Index to help you achieve your new physique and all the social dominance you can handle!
